First day in Atlanta. I have never been here before.
It's new. It's exciting.
The weather is fantastic. It's so cold. But clear. And beautiful.
And we can just walk around the city. It's great.
Today we were big on site-seeing.
First we went to the Olympic Park.
What?! I didn't even put it together that the OLYMPICS were held in Atlanta in 1996.
So we went there. Where it was held. So freaking cool. I love the Olympics.
Flags were still there. The blue sky made for some great pictures.
Then we headed to the CNN Center. SO. COOL.
I was also completely unaware that CNN shows were filmed in Atlanta.
A couple of us took the Studio Tour.
Absolutely fascinating. We saw Tony Harris filming a show!
Learned the ins and outs of CNN production. It was just...really cool.
I loved these hours of the trip.
We ate breakfast so we were good on the lunch...which was good on my wallet.
To kick off the actual conference bit, we had our first Region meeting.
This. This I loved.
Our region is great. Very energetic. Very sweet. It was a fantastic atmosphere.
I will be looking forward to this time every day.
Oh yes. We had Opening Ceremonies tonight. Unexpectedly fantastic.
Well not that I expected it wouldn't be awesome. I just didn't expect it to be such a party.
No like...we had glowing things and a percussion group...and some Black Eyed Peas blaring.
It was pretty great.
There were some moving speeches made. It really set the tone for the rest of conference.
Then we had dinner at this place called The Vortex.
Oh gosh.
It was really delicious. But a friend...a brother...a
brother-friend got this burger called "Double Bypass Burger"
Shoot.
It was a half pound of meat, 2 fried eggs, 6 pieces of cheese, 8 pieces of bacon, and two grilled cheese sandwiches serving as a pseudo-bun.
It was ridiculous. But he ate it. Quickly.
Pretty great.
Theeeen we rode the MARTA!!! My first underground transportation!!
This was an exciting moment. It was really fun actually.
Pretty stressful though. I could get used to it.
Yay this day.
Ended with hanging with the brothas until we all fell asleep.
Day Three Hundred and Sixty One.
700 Mile Vortex.
